👋 Overview

Earworm ("we", "our", or "the app") is a music guessing game for iOS. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

The short version: we collect as little data as possible. We don't sell your data. We don't track you across other apps. We don't show you ads.

📱 Information We Collect

Information stored only on your device:

• Game scores, stats, and achievements (stored in local app storage)
• Your purchase history (cached locally to avoid repeated lookups)
• Daily challenge completion state
• App preferences and settings
• Artist artwork cache (to speed up loading)

Information shared with Apple:

• Apple Music access — to fetch song previews and artwork. We only request read access; we never modify your library without your explicit action.
• Game Center — if you use Game Center, Apple handles your profile and achievement data under Apple's own Privacy Policy.
• In-App Purchases — transactions are processed entirely by Apple. We never see or store your payment information.

🎵 Apple Music Access

Earworm requests access to Apple Music to:

• Play 30-second song previews during gameplay
• Fetch song artwork for display
• Access your personal library (My Library mode only)
• Add songs to your library if you choose to use the "Add to Library" feature

You can use Earworm without connecting Apple Music — preview-only mode is available. Your music library is never uploaded to any server.

🔔 Notifications

If you opt in, Earworm sends a daily local notification reminding you to play the daily challenge. This notification is scheduled entirely on your device — no data leaves your phone to deliver it. You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings → Notifications → Earworm.

💳 Purchases

All in-app purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Earworm never sees, stores, or transmits your payment details. Purchase records are verified directly with Apple's servers and cached locally on your device only.

🌐 Third-Party Services

Earworm uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

• Apple Music / MusicKit — for song previews and catalog access. Apple Privacy Policy
• Apple Game Center — for achievements. Apple Privacy Policy
• Apple App Store — for in-app purchases. Apple Privacy Policy

We do not integrate any advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or other third-party tracking services.

🔗 Challenge Links

When you share a challenge with a friend, a link is generated containing the Apple Music song IDs and your score. This link is shared through your chosen messaging app (e.g. iMessage). We do not collect or store these links on any server — they exist only in the message you choose to send.

👶 Children's Privacy

Earworm does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. The app does not contain features designed to collect personal data from any user, regardless of age.

🔒 Data Security

Because Earworm stores all user data locally on your device, your data is protected by your device's built-in security (Face ID, passcode, etc.). We do not operate servers that store personal data, so there is no central database that could be breached.

✏️ Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
